Truly a lost classic, I first heard "The Waves" by Outer Limits in a Videograss snowboarding film. I reached out to the director through Instagram, and he was kind enough to lend the title of the track. As to how he found the song, it seems like we need to make an interview happen because Videograss flicks are full of old psych and garage rock gems.
Like some of the Beach Boy's deep cuts, there's some early signs of dream pop, maybe even chill wave, in this song. The way the organ loops behind the slow drums is hypnotic, just like ocean waves. Enjoy the track and check out the Videograss clip below.
